Cool concept, terrible performance
I traded up to the 2016 cx-5 and opted to wait for this to come out versus getting the same bulky extra-fob system I had before. There were several times last year in the dead of winter that my remote start didnt work because it was too far or we were too deep inside a building, so I opted for the cellular option since I live and work in a metro area with great cell coverage in all networks everywhere. Being summer, I havent really used it, but with this cold snap weve had I really wanted to get my car warmed up before work last week. Much to my dismay, the server was down. For days. So now the server is up and I say, "ok, lets try this out again". This time, "communication with vehicle could not be established". Ridiculous. Its parked in the driveway of the house where my signal is so good that I get 4 bars of LTE in my basement, but my car in my driveway has no signal? I highly doubt that.
Brilliant idea, but there arent many adopters right now and it feels as though Mazda just doesnt care about the functionality with such low numbers. Every other app on my phone updates every week or so; Im still on version 1.0.0 after having it for 2 months.
Also, it makes you enter in a highly secure password every time, doesnt work with the print scanner on iPhone, and takes "up to 1 minute" to do anything (which I get, since its waiting for confirmation, but theres got to be a better way to make us wait instead of locking down the program with the loading screen)
Rant over. Wait until the updates on the software side before you drop the coin.
