Was easy to setup online and use. Loving it!
Was easy to setup online and use. Loving it!
I just bought the Mazda Mobile Start hours ago and finally got through the registration and the account set-up and the smartphone download and just tried it. Like another reviewer said, having to sign-on each time and type-in a pin number, then waiting up to 1 minute for its functions to work are ittitating after paying $600 for the install. If it works from far, far away, however, I may appreciate it more in the winter months, while inside a building and my car is in a big parking lot! That will be nice... if it performs like it should. If it doesnt, then a traditional keyfob type is preferable, plus there are new devices planted on my windshield from the install that Ill have to avoid when cleaning the windshield glass.
I was rather annoyed with the time that it takes to communicate with the car, on average almost a minute, and another minute that it requires to sign in every time you do anything because it wont stay signed in. If I didnt have an entire day of personal install time in it, I would have returned it. There is no reason it cant communicate faster, the technology is there. Make it happen, if updates dont happen soon to fix these issues I likely wont renew next year. It also turned itself off once you get to the car so it needs to be turned back on anyways.
I love the idea of having remote access to my car with no distance limitation. Two big problems: needing to type in strong password (not tied to Apple TouchID) every single time & the server has been down now ever since the day after I got the car! (3 out of 4 days...)
I have yet to register my new car because the server has been down this whole time. An incredibly inauspicious start to what should be a simple process. I cant recommend this app and I cant recommend anyone spend $500 on the option until all of this improves.
I traded up to the 2016 cx-5 and opted to wait for this to come out versus getting the same bulky extra-fob system I had before. There were several times last year in the dead of winter that my remote start didnt work because it was too far or we were too deep inside a building, so I opted for the cellular option since I live and work in a metro area with great cell coverage in all networks everywhere. Being summer, I havent really used it, but with this cold snap weve had I really wanted to get my car warmed up before work last week. Much to my dismay, the server was down. For days. So now the server is up and I say, "ok, lets try this out again". This time, "communication with vehicle could not be established". Ridiculous. Its parked in the driveway of the house where my signal is so good that I get 4 bars of LTE in my basement, but my car in my driveway has no signal? I highly doubt that. Brilliant idea, but there arent many adopters right now and it feels as though Mazda just doesnt care about the functionality with such low numbers. Every other app on my phone updates every week or so; Im still on version 1.0.0 after having it for 2 months. Also, it makes you enter in a highly secure password every time, doesnt work with the print scanner on iPhone, and takes "up to 1 minute" to do anything (which I get, since its waiting for confirmation, but theres got to be a better way to make us wait instead of locking down the program with the loading screen) Rant over. Wait until the updates on the software side before you drop the coin.
I was the first to get this at my dealership in Bham Ala and wanted to share my thoughts to counter some of the unflattering reviews here. I dont usually write reviews, but its worth it in this case. I love this app! Works flawlessly, and its perfect for people like me who park a fair distance from their office....too far for a FOB starter. It takes less than a minute to start the car once you hit "start" but u can walk away while it connects so why are people complaining that it takes a minute to work? Also, if you choose "start engine" as the desired operation before you start entering your password, then it skips the 4 digit code step. And on my iPhone it least it remembers your username, so really all u have to do is launch the app, choose start engine, enter PW, then hit Send and walk away. Whats hard about that? Wish it would allow us the option of also saving the PW but oh well. If you dont choose Start Engine ahead of time then after logging in it takes you to a screen where you choose Start Engine or Unlock Car etc, and if you do it that way then yes it will also ask for the four digit PIN code you set up, and this does lengthen the time and number of steps necessary, and I think this is the reason behind some of the mediocre reviews. So choose Start Engine prior to entering PW and u can skip the PIN code step. A little baffling as to why Mazda didnt simplify this but at least theres a workaround. Server that runs the system is not maintained by Mazda and it went out for a few days in late August but they gave us a free extra year of the app as a reward. Also, no extra FOB to carry around! Overall very pleased, although implementation could have been a little better thought out. 4/5 stars!
Please! Please! Please! Allow touchID sign on and stop requiring a dang pin to do each thing.
Please eliminate the need to enter a password and PIN number. My phone is secure enough, it doesnt need 3 levels of protection. Also please add an Apple Watch app.
As other reviewers have said, it is a headache to have to enter ones user id and then a password, especially if the password is sufficiently "strong." If the developers would build Touch ID into the app I would rate it much higher.
So. It worked. Now it doesnt. At all, for weeks. "Communication With the Vehicle Was Interrupted" -even when next to the car or inside the car. Please fix this before it gets super cold and Im forced to go whine at my Mazda dealership. Just had this installed by the dealer. I downloaded the app/registered online and on my way to pick the car back up I was able to turn it on from 5 miles away. Yes it takes a minute and -yes you have to type in your long user name and password and pin. The point is to be able to start your car from far away in a secure fashion, so you have a nice warm (or cool) car to get into. Goal:accomplished. In a totally cool techie way. So long as nobody hacks my car, Im happy!
It is extremely cumbersome to have to enter a long and complex password every time you use this. If Apple has had Touch ID technology for years now, why cant the developer build it into MMS?
Id love to 5star this, but for the past 3 weeks the "server communication had been interrupted". Itd be great if Mazda can credit back the time they havent been online against what Ive paid for this.
I agree with the other reviews that criticize having to enter a password every time. I have to enter a PIN anyway to start, so why the extra layer of protection? Mazda, please remove the password feature or let me store the password in the app.
Has any official Mazda engineer and CTO or CEO EVER USED this crap? The money is way to much for such a incredibly useless software.
My two recommendations. First, stop requiring the main password to be entered at least once a day. We already have a PIN to provide some security on top of the phone lock. A suggestion if this is possible would be to add a feature to roll all windows up and close the sunroof.
It literally takes 3 minutes just to login on the app. It then takes another couple of minutes to actually start the vehicle. They really need to improve this apps load time. I understand the remote start should take a minute or two but why would the login alone take sooo long on wifi? We are very unhappy with this product and will not get this installed on our next vehicle.
I was very excited to have remote start. First it is annoying to have to enter your password and pin every time. Second, when your phone goes locks after a few minutes of inactivity the app shuts off the warming car. Lastly, I have tried to use the remote start several times and it has actually worked about 15% of the time. When I called Mazda service I was told it was too new and they did not really know how the app should work either. This was my first Mazda and thus far I am not seeing anything that is telling me my next vehicle will be from Mazda.
Anyone else having issues? "Communication with vehicle has been interrupted". Mazda customer service cant help me...?!!!? Dealership doesnt know. Terrible app, #mazda Fix it. Lots of people on here having issues.
This is way too expensive to not even work at all! $600 plus $65 a year and it is is useless. Our first try and the app says the hood is open so it cant start. Went out in the cold and the hood was not open. Please fix! Im sick over splurging for a a connivence that does not even work!
